HOW IT WORKS: Song Writing, World Music or Introductory Music ICT courses take place over 1 day utilising the O-Generator Music Software (to find out more about O-Generator, go to www.o-music.tv). O-Generator was co-designed by Bassistry Music and is distributed worldwide by Sibelius Music Software. Its unique circular design allows students to learn, understand, explore and compose in a way that normal sequencers simply can't. There are 3 programmes - Songwriting, World Music and O-Generator Introduction:

Songwriting

- Stundents learn to Compose and record their music.

- By the end of the session the Students will have produced their own track, which can be put onto a CD.

- Students learn how to integrate backing tracks made in O-Generator into any sequencer (Cubasis, Cubase, Garageband, Ejay).

World Music

- Students learn about African or Latin Music and how to play music from these continents using O-Generator World.

O-Generator Introduction

- Students are introduced to the concept of O-Generator - how it works, how to navigate the software and what is does.

- A professional musician will guide students through a lesson using the data projector (if you have one!).

- Students will learn the basics of composing. [Putting together a basic drumbeat (the 3 easy steps) and basic melody]. They are then shown how to compose a basic track.

- Workshop culminates in an analysis of some of the pupils' songs and a brief introduction to other lessons. There is a brief Q & A session to see what the students have learnt at the end of the lesson.
